Hi, I'm Oddur.
Born and raised in Iceland.
My path hasn't been a straight line. I've worked on fishing trawlers, building sites, pharmaceutical production floors, and even briefly digitizing earthquake data for the Institute of Earth Sciences. Life has a way of taking you places you didn't plan for. Mine took me through some hard seasons too, years of struggling with addiction, multiple treatments, and eventually finding my footing. I've been sober since October 20, 2023, and that date means everything to me.
These days I work as a peer support worker on a psychiatric and addiction ward, showing up for people who are going through what I once went through. I'm trained in Intentional Peer Support, which means I don't pretend to have the answers, I just bring my own story and actually listen.
I studied archaeology at the University of Iceland, and that love of digging into the past never really left me. When I'm not working, you'll find me in the mountains or with my nose in a history book.
I know what it's like to feel like the road ahead is impossible. I also know it isn't. That's why I'm here.
Oddur
